Frederico Uribe is an artist who makes paintings from pencils, jigsaw pieces and other similar tiny objects which are suitable for use for this purpose.

The pencils and other parts from which he makes those artworks are carefully glued up on a panel so they all together are forming colorful paintings which remind me on Van Gogh’s paintings.

Creating paintings like these requires a lot of time and concentration because every detail has to be perfectly planned, placed and prepared.

We have already wrote something about the artworks of Charis Tsevis. Last time we wrote about him he was doing some pretty cool mosaic illustrations.

Here you can see some of his latest work, we could still call them ‘mosaics’ but instead of little photos, as we have used to see in Tsevis’ artworks, here we can see a lot of wires. Those illustrations were made for RAM magazine and were used in article about the future of publishing and media in the upcoming era of wireless devices such as iPad, iPhone and others.

Tsevis made those illustration using Synthetik StudioArtist and Adobe Photoshop with using specially developed techniques and scripts.

Impressive Mosaics Made Of Jelly Beans

Here is another mosaic-art story. We have already reported about few of mosaic artists but this kind of art offers a lot of possibilities to artist and there is always something new and interesting when we talk about this kind of art. The main reason that mosaics are pretty appreciated by audience is that they are certainly not easy to make and those who decide to create them have to spend a lot of hours doing very precise job.

Peter Rocha and his nephew Roger are creating amazing mosaics made of thousands of colorful jelly beans.

They have created more than 70 jelly bean mosaics until now using thousands of different types and colors of jelly beans. Here you can see some of them.

Portraits Made Of Hundreds Of Pills by Jason Mecier

It is well known that lot of celebrities have problems with using drugs. American artist Jason Mecier decided to speak about this problem in his own way. He created a number of celebrity mosaic-portraits out of colored prescription pills.

There you can find portrait of Heath Ledger who has lost his life because of drugs overdose. The Michael Jackson portrait is pretty interesting too. If you look those photos from a distance or resize them to a tiny images, you’ll see that those portraits are pretty realistic.

Jason Mecier is a mosaic portrait artist who has worked for a years in creation of amazing mosaic portraits using beans, noodles, yarn and similar inexpensive materials. He claims that there’s no any ‘fooling’ about his artworks and that he is not using any trick shots or studio touch ups to create his artworks.

Many celebrities have already succumbed to a drug overdose, and if the culture of drug abuse among them is any indication, there could be more of them suffering the same fate in the future.

Amazing Mosaic Illustrations By Charis Tsevis

Charis Tsevis is visual designer from Athens, Greece. He runs his own Tsevis Visual Design studio. Tsevis has recently made some of great mosaic designs.

He is a part-time professor of Editorial Design and Typography at the AKTO College of Art and Design as well as being the founding member of Visual Communication Designers’ Club (vcdc) in Greece.

His specialty are mosaics and he became an expert in this type of art. He has already done some commercial designs for companies like Coca-Cola, IKEa and Toyota. His mosaic illustrations of Barack Obama and Michael Phelps have became widely popular.

You may notice that he especially likes to work with sport figures. He says that he is attracted with athletes because of their consistency and dedication.

“What attracts me to sports is the same thing that attracts me to art. When it comes to athletes, I admire their consistency, strength and dedication. I find a connection between athletes and artists, teams and political organizations and sports fans and all of us.”
