The Flipper Bridge Project at the Crossing Between Hong Kong and China

Hong Kong roads are different from the rest of roads in China. Hong Kong, the former British colony has kept the British tradition to drive on the right side of the road. However, when you want to connect such place with the rest of the “normal” world which is driving on the left side of the road, you have to have a crossing point specially designed for that.

Here you can see a number of projects which were submitted by architects to a competition for the construction of the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities.

One of those is The Flipper Bridge and it is used to safely connect the roads where people drive on the left side and the roads where people drive on the right side.

Frederico Uribe is an artist who makes paintings from pencils, jigsaw pieces and other similar tiny objects which are suitable for use for this purpose.

The pencils and other parts from which he makes those artworks are carefully glued up on a panel so they all together are forming colorful paintings which remind me on Van Gogh’s paintings.

Creating paintings like these requires a lot of time and concentration because every detail has to be perfectly planned, placed and prepared.

The Asian megacities which have emerged in last few decades, as a consequence of rapid economical development of some Asian countries are becoming bigger and bigger, every day.

It is amazing how some of those cities have become so huge, jammed up with hundreds of skyscapers and other buildings. But, as it always use to be, the true shine of every city can be seen only in the night.

Pierre Capati is photographer who has created a series of astonishing photos of big cities in Malaysia, Singapore, Taipei and Hong Kong.

He managed to capture amazing view of those cities, and like he wants to show us how the life in those sparkling places does not lose on its intensity at the night and it even may be that those places are becoming even more alive at the night.

A Challenge For Linguists: Baby Twins Weird Language Conversation

When you see two babies while they are playing, you will notice that they do understand each other pretty much. Like there is some kind of universal language which allows them to communicate with pretty unusual selection of gestures and voices.

The following video which has became incredibly popular all over the world is showing two small baby-twins while they are having an argue about something. They use “dadada” words and it seems that they perfectly understand each other and they even look like that they are expressing more complex thoughts and feelings. This conversation doesn’t look so simple at all and it seems that they are pretty enjoying while having it. At one point I was started to think that this is definitely going to end with a fight but it seems that they were just having a fun. If you are a linguist then this little conversation could be very useful material in studying the nature of language and communication.

While the most of us is thinking that we have living in the age of the knowledge, which is conditionally correct, the fact is that we actually still do know a very little about the most of the things.

The nature which surrounds us is just an example of how we are actually incapable to get the knowledge about thousands of animal species and forms of life which are lying on unexplored parts of our planet.

When it comes to exploring underwater life, then we see that everything has its limits, as well as our ability to explore and to learn.

70-Year-Old Granny Tried to Rob an Exchange Office in Serbia

A 70-year-old granny has been arrested after she tried to rob a money exchange office in Serbia.

70-year old Maria P. has been jailed while she was trying to rob exchange office in the town of Ada, in Serbia.

She used a mask and a plastic gun while she was trying to take some money from the workers of money exchange office “Dolar”.

However, she wasn’t so careful and successful robber, workers of the exchange office have managed to call the police immediately and a few moments later the old granny was arrested and she will be accused for trying to organize a robbery.

It seems that future has a lot of exciting and positive surprises for us, at least when we talk about useful technologies.

Here you can see an amazing prototype model of the remarkable bus from the future which could be seen on the streets of our cities very soon.

It is not necessary to tell that this vehicle looks almost exactly like some of those which could be seen in numerous science-fiction movies. As you can see from the photos of its interior, this vehicle is designed to be used in public transportation in cities.

I think that it is obvious why we have decided to title this article with the “Spacebus” word. The vehicle does look like it is some kind of spaceship rather than ordinary bus used in public transportation.

Playing with marionette dolls can be pretty funny (it is not only funny when you are the marionette ). Those who know how to operate them can make amazing and entertaining shows.

Marionette dolls are often small so they can fit in pocket or some smaller box but the following marionette which you are about to see is a little bit different and it definitely cannot fit in your pocket no matter how deep it is

This is the world’s largest Santa Claus marionette and this is confirmed by the Guiness Book of Records. It is 11 meters tall and it can be operated from an operating board. It is placed in Torres Vedras near Lisabon in Portugal.

I am not sure why anything today made from cardboard has to become a hit. Probably people just like to see when something is recreated and made from an unusual material like cardboard.

When I was a kid I was reading some books about photography and there was a tutorial on how to create an usable camera from cardboard. This article reminded me on that days.

Kiel Johnson is an American artist who has created an interesting collection of cameras made from cardboard. Those are full-equipped cameras with all lenses and similar parts. and they can be used for taking some quality photos. Also, there you can see some old models of cameras like polaroids or even older ones.

Kori no Suizokukan, the Frozen Aquarium in Japan

Japan has always been a place where you could find unimaginably creepy things. I do not know is it because of their culture or what but from time to time we have oportunity to hear about really incredible things from this part of the world.

Today we are going to talk about one location which is awesome and creepy at the same time. The Kori no Suizokukan is frozen aquarium. It is a place where you can find about few hundreds of frozen animals from different seas.

Animals are frozen and placed in ice cubes. If you want to visit this place you’ll have to use a special suit which keeps you warm since the temperatures in this place are lower than -20 degrees Celsius.

After you are done with the visit you can warm up in Maguro Shashimi restaurant which is few steps away from this frozen aquarium.
