Switzerland is one of the world’s most attractive countries, it is great touristic destination and it is great place to keep your money. Switzerland is often associated with it’s features and products in the eyes of most people. So you will often hear about Swiss banks, Swiss cheese, Swiss cows, but Switzerland is also often associated with high quality watches.
The Swiss watch and clock industry appeared first in Geneva in 1541. The Swiss jewelers started to make watches when government banned wearing jewels.
The world’s first watchmakers guild was created in Geneva in 1601 and this part of the world has became famous by high quality watches.

Swiss watch industry gave huge contribution to development of new technologies related to watch production. Geneva was exporting more than 60.000 watches in last decade of 18th century.
Swiss inventor Abraham-Louis Perrlet created first ‘perpetual’ (self-winding) watch.

After the end of the World War I, the wristwatches became very popular which lead to groove in watch production industry. First prototypes of electronic quartz watches were made in Switzerland in 1962 and this new technology lead to creation of more accurate watches. Swiss companies have kept the leading positions in watch industry until today.
