There is a new fashion amongst Copenhagen citizens these days that has one simple goal: Improving knowledge and consciousness about the global warming, climate change and energy saving.
Copenhagen authorities set up eco-friendly Christmas tree which is powered by bicycle-pedaling.

It is pretty funny and pretty exciting at the same time to watch huge Christmas tree how it glows in the dark while you are the source of the energy that powers all that lights.
This particular example of ecological consciousness will not save the Planet nor it will significantly improve Earth’s global warming situation but it will certainly show to our youngs that energy is not the thing to waste rather it is thing to save.

Counting down to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) in December, the citizens of Copenhagen trot the pedals to light up the traditional Christmas tree on the City Hall Square.

I think this can indeed make a difference for the planet. Why? Because it gives people (of all ages) the chance to be more active rather than passive, and as you say to appreciate the value of energy whether in the form of heat, light, transportation, or other form.
Active engagement, such as working to create light or bicycling to get to a destination, definitely feels different than, and more satisfying than, flipping a switch for lights or turning a key in a car to zoom down a highway. I will add that I do still drive a car, but it is a smallish model, and I do bike ride to many nearby errands. Activity has a personal satisfaction, and at the same time helps the planet.
Well, that’s one way to avoid packing on the pounds this holiday season.
Great, I wish they made it from fiber optic material, it would look even more exciting
